Airtel iCreate 2018 National Finalist Prathmesh Todakar's Story
After many failed attempts at other competitions, I learnt how to approach the case problem. We knew very little about the work environment in telecom but we worked hard. We performed thorough background research. We arrived at the solution after hours of discussions within the group. We also consulted a few industry leaders and professors. It was a great learning experience for both of us. We were to submit an introductory video of the team. It was a fun activity and we enjoyed it very much.
Working in a team was a great experience in itself. Our debates and conflicts were always in-depth and engrossing. Being close friends throughout the MBA, we were always in sync. We capitalized on our strengths. Both of us are very persistent and this turned out to be our core strength which helped us sail through this competition. For me, it is a necessity to do well in any of the case study competitions.
12 teams were selected out of 5000 submissions nationwide for the final round of Airtel iCreate 2018. I would say that the competition was balanced in terms of judgement quality, framing, and organization. I really liked the way the finale was arranged. Competing with 12 national finalists not only helped us improve our perspective but also gave us the motivation to work harder in coming competitions.
Airtel is a great company in terms of learning and growth. I liked how they communicated and helped us with the mentors. The most important learning that I shall carry with me is- “Solutions may seem fit, but understanding the right problem is really important when you address business situations.” All of us got PPIs for getting selected in the top 12 and converting it to get a PPO was a special moment for me and I really look forward to solving real-life problems in the future.
