An insight into the star-studded virtual induction program at SIDTM Pune -By Sanghita Biswas
With the ongoing pandemic, digitalisation has become the new norm. Life as we know it has shifted to online platforms. Nevertheless, I was able to attend the wonderful induction program at SIDTM Pune from the confines of my home, through my laptop screen. The program was held on 15 and 16 July, 2020, and gave us an insight into our new life at Symbiosis.
Interactions with corporate pioneers and alumni
The induction program at SIDTM Pune was conducted seamlessly on Microsoft Teams, with a welcoming address from the Director of the institute. This was followed by motivating words from our Deputy Director, faculty, and staff on campus. We were also exposed to crucial life skill sessions, which were based on important topics like mental and physical health, time management, and corporate communication.
During our induction program at SIDTM Pune, no stone was left unturned. Our senior's batches went one step ahead and organised a lovely interactive session with the alumni for the batch of 2020-22. Several of them are currently successful corporate pioneers and ultimately provided us with the encouragement and support we needed during these trying times. The line-up included the General Manager for Vodafone, KPMG’s Associate Director, and Citrix’s Area Vice President.
Other than the engaging sessions we had with our alumni, the induction program at SIDTM Pune was also graced by Capegemini’s Managing Director (Southeast Asia), Persistent Systems’ Senior Vice President, and Protivit’s Managing Director. Such leaders shed light on lucrative fields like consulting and the IT industry and emphasised on time management as the key to success in the corporate world.
Experiencing the MBA life virtually
Our online induction program at SIDTM Pune made sure that the new batch does not miss out on experiencing the MBA life. Several measures were executed from their side to give us a proper B-School experience. One of the measures included interactions amongst the new batch. Networking and building contacts play a crucial role in anyone’s MBA journey. Hence, our seniors conducted several ice-breaking sessions and games to familiarise ourselves with one another.
After our induction program at SIDTM Pune culminated, the routine for our first week on the virtual campus included bridge classes for subjects like finance and the basics of telecom. Apart from this, a case study competition was also organised by our college. We all took part in the competition and learnt several case study hacks.
The first week summed up with these activities. It was exceptionally hectic and provided us with a proper MBA experience. Even though everything took place virtually, I learnt how to collaborate and team up with people, and also learnt about patience and flexibility. The online induction program at SIDTM Pune and the week that followed was a one-of-a-kind experience into the MBA life!
