Applications open for research programmes at IIT Palakkad

IIT Palakkad has invited applications for research programmes pertaining to Ph.D. and M.S. courses for the session 2020. The subjects for the Ph.D. programs include Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. The research programmes regarding M.S. are available in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Civil Engineering. 

Eligibility criteria for Ph.D. in Engineering 

The aspiring candidates who want to apply for the course of Ph.D. in Engineering should either have a Master’s degree in technology/engineering or a Master’s degree in research in technology/engineering. Candidates who have a master’s degree in sciences and a bachelor’s degree in technology/engineering from a CFTI (Centrally Funded Technical Institute) are also eligible to apply for the same. However, the admission procedure is subject to certain conditions which are already mentioned in the information brochure. 

Eligibility criteria for Ph.D. in Sciences

Candidates who wish to apply for Ph.D. in sciences must have a master’s degree in a science subject and a valid GATE or UGC/NBHM/CSIR-NET score. Candidates who hold a master’s degree in technology/engineering and already have a bachelor’s degree from a CFTI are also eligible for the same, with respect to terms and conditions as specified in the prospectus.

Eligibility criteria for M.S. (Research)

Students who are willing to apply for M.S. (Research) must have either a bachelor’s degree in technology/engineering or a master’s degree in science with a valid GATE score. Students who have an associate membership from professional bodies, given that they have passed both parts (A & B) of the membership test and have a valid GATE score are also eligible to apply for the research programme at IIT Palakkad.

Engineering students who have graduated from IITs, NITs, and other CFTIs and have scored a minimum CGPA of 8/10 (General candidates), 7.5/10 (OBC-NCL) and 7/10 (SC/ST/PwD candidates) are eligible to seek admission for M.S. (Research) without any GATE score.

For male applicants who belong from the General/OBC-NCL/EWS category, the application fees is INR 100 and for General/OBC-NCL/EWS female candidates and students from SC/ST/PwD category, the fees is INR 50. Aspiring candidates are advised to apply for the courses by September 30th, 2020 at https://resap.iitpkd.ac.in/.
