She appeared twice for Union Public Services Commission, Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE) and cleared both attempts with an impressive improvement in her second attempt that secured her the IAS.

Divya Tanwar hails from Nimbi village in the rural Mahendragarh District of Haryana. She did her schooling at Navodaya Vidyalaya and later completed her B.Sc. from Government Women’s College in Mahendragarh. With the untimely death of her father, the family faced economic hardship now and then. Babita Tanwar, her mother, had to work as a labourer to earn and support her studies.

IAS Divya was academically bright and studious since her school days and she maintained that momentum throughout her graduation. Her mother too had so much hope in her daughter and was ever ready to support her in whichever way possible taking the role of a father.

Once she completed her B.Sc. degree, Divya started preparing for UPSC Civil Services and studied 10 hours a day in a small room of her house without any coaching. Her determination to be on the recommended list of UPSC CSE was so strong that she proved it right by securing the  AIR 438 in 2021. By then, she was just 21 years of age, becoming a young and inspirational IPS officer.

Young as she was, she always dreamt of a bigger dream - to be an IAS officer one day. She knew she had the potential to achieve it. And so, while shouldering the responsibility of an IPS officer, she consistently continued her preparations to secure a better rank to become an IAS. 

When the UPSC CSE 2022 result was announced, her determination and hard work proved it right! She made an impressive improvement to secure AIR 105 that eventually fulfilled her dream to be an IAS officer.
