From IPS Officer At 21 To IAS Topper At 22: Divya Tanwar Gets AIR 105 Without Coaching

The success story of IAS Divya Tanwar that we will be engaging you with is not for the faint of hearts! She appeared twice for Union Public Services Commission, Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE) and cleared both attempts with an impressive improvement in her second attempt that secured her the IAS.

The UPSC CSE is a national competitive examination in India for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS). It is known for its comprehensively tough and vast syllabus, which tests aspirants' in-depth understanding with the noble aim of producing bright, daring, and inspirational officers.

Background Of IAS Divya Tanwar

Divya Tanwar hails from Nimbi village in the rural Mahendragarh District of Haryana. She did her schooling at Navodaya Vidyalaya and later completed her B.Sc. from Government Women’s College in Mahendragarh. With the untimely death of her father, the family faced economic hardship now and then. Babita Tanwar, her mother, had to work as a labourer to earn and support her studies.

IAS Divya was academically bright and studious since her school days and she maintained that momentum throughout her graduation. Her mother too had so much hope in her daughter and was ever ready to support her in whichever way possible taking the role of a father.

Divya Tanwar's Journey From An IPS To IAS Officer

Once she completed her B.Sc. degree, Divya started preparing for UPSC Civil Services and studied 10 hours a day in a small room of her house without any coaching. Her determination to be on the recommended list of UPSC CSE was so strong that she proved it right by securing the  AIR 438 in 2021. By then, she was just 21 years of age, becoming a young and inspirational IPS officer.

Young as she was, she always dreamt of a bigger dream - to be an IAS officer one day. She knew she had the potential to achieve it. And so, while shouldering the responsibility of an IPS officer, she consistently continued her preparations to secure a better rank to become an IAS.

When the UPSC CSE 2022 result was announced, her determination and hard work proved it right! She made an impressive improvement to secure AIR 105 that eventually fulfilled her dream to be an IAS officer.

By then, she was just 22 years of age - a rare feat, one of its kind! Think about the indescribable smile and happiness of Babita Tanwar, a widowed mother who always believed in her daughter`s possibility!
