Climbing the first rung of the ladder after coming back from the corporate world -By Anchit Kumar from IIM Bodh Gaya

After two months of meticulous work, profuse exposure to the onerous corporate world and a beautiful experience called internship, I am back to the college again. This time, I'm a bit more prepared, more experienced and a lot more wise. It would be a lie if I'd say that I did not miss my campus life. In fact, I missed it every day. Even though the lectures are long, I have had numerous assignments and projects along with sleepless nights and a constant struggle with mess food, it still is my second home.

My first stint in the corporate world

Now that I have had a taste of the typical corporate culture and the challenging competition out there, it’s really comforting to know that my college and faculty is preparing me for the same. I am now able to look at the greener side of the grass. I have a fresh, positive perspective towards lectures which I once considered boring. In addition, I can understand projects, presentations and the evaluation criteria and know that they'll will help me climb the corporate ladder eventually.

My internship has helped me gain some of the most valuable insights of life. Some of these are the art of perseverance, the value of having mutually beneficial relationships with your colleagues and the importance of delivering within the given deadlines. During the last year of my MBA, I intend to move ahead according to the lessons I have learnt during my internship and the experience I have gained.

A year more to go

It feels good to return back to college. It really comforts me to know that for a year more, I will have the support of my faculty and friends whenever I would stumble on a difficult barrier. Also, it is soothing to know that I can look up to them in times of need and ask for their help 24 hours a day, without feeling ashamed. I will get a year more to make million more memories that I shall cherish forever, whenever I'll board the train of nostalgia and look back on these days.

The juniors would be joining soon and I am glad to have a year more to share my experiences with them. Being a new institute, I see myself as a founding member of the college. A founding member thus, it’s my fundamental duty to contribute with the best of my capabilities. Now that I am back to college again, I will try to do my best to give it a cultural hue. That will be ingrained as one of the basic tenets of the institution and will be carried forward as a legacy in times to come. I am glad to be a part of this journey and really look forward to make the best out of the time I have in my hands for the development of my friends, the institute and myself. One day, I'll come back to this place and say: “Yes, I made it!”
