Job Alert! Cognizant is Hiring 45,000 Freshers in 2022

Cognizant’s CEO Brian Humphries confirmed that the company is gearing up to hire more than 45,000 B.Tech graduates in 2022 in order to make up for the rising attrition rate in the company. “As noted in last quarter's remarks, we expected attrition to go up sequentially in Q2, and it did. Second-quarter voluntary attrition reached 29 percent on an annualized basis or 18 per cent on a trailing 12-month basis. Our attrition metric captures the entire company including trainees and corporates across both IT services and BPO” said the company’s CEO.

Lateral hiring amid high attrition

As the effect of the pandemic has become less (though the new Covid-19 variant Omicron is laying stress on the companies to decide the future road), the IT companies in India have begun their hunt for fresh graduates and are on a hiring spree. The fresher hiring sentiment across companies is gradually improving, with the IT Sector alone offering 31% entry-level jobs. More than 250,000 freshers have been hired in the year 2021-22 so far.

Apart from freshers, the US-based, NASDAQ-listed company will also hire approximately 1 lakh Indian techies laterally (experienced IT professionals) to tackle the whooping 33% attrition rate.
