Deloitte to roll out 100% more jobs in India
Operated in about 150 countries with more than 300,000 professionals, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited has pitched in to double its 55,000 strong workforce in India over the next two to three years to tap the rich talent pool of the country. With an aim of boosting not only services to domestic customers but also services exported from India, the 157-year old company is all set to give back to the community, besides serving its customers in these pandemic-laden times.
It was at the recently held 18th edition of Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Punit Renjen, Global CEO, Deloitte dedicated his decision to the talent arbitrage that India offers. Although 2020 has been a miserable year there is a silver lining in the new normal for the country as most of the business and chief executive officers are looking forward to reassessing and re-engineering their supply chains. This along with India aspiring to be a USD 5 trillion economy, is a golden opportunity to get some of the supply chains relocated in the country.
The Global CEO of Deloitte also endorsed the Government’s initiative of attracting global investors in the country to set up local production units. He remarked that this will not only boost the economy but also add more jobs.
Way forward for Deloitte
Apart from Deloitte’s decision of hiring double its workforce in the coming years, the company has also stepped up to serve its community. The company aims to educate at least 10 million out of 155 million women and girls in the country with the help of NGOs, thus raising them out of poverty.
Mr. Renjen also focused on the concept of following a hybrid model of online and offline working practices and how the rules of globalization are likely to change in the future during the summit. One thing is for sure, the company is all set for developing a high-valued ecosystem as the CEO quoted, “Deloitte’s most precious resource is not the money that we give. It is the 300,000 individuals and the talent they have!”
