Doctoral scholarship exclusive: Apply now to study in Germany!

Graduate support opportunities (scholarships) are being offered by RWTH Aachen University to Doctoral students. This comes in accordance with their guidelines for the promotion of young researchers at their campus. Students with an above-average degree that qualifies for doctoral studies are eligible to apply. The applicant’s research works should be original and make an important contribution in the respective field of study. The applicant must also be enrolled at RWTH Aachen University as a doctoral student.

What is the RWTH Scholarship?

Successful applicants are to be granted a basic scholarship within one year after graduation. Graduates who showed their scholarly capabilities during their studies are provided with the scholarship and the opportunity to concentrate thoroughly on their research as part of their doctoral studies.

Scholarship period

The basic scholarships are being awarded for a period of 1 year. However, the scholarship receivers may apply for its extension. If that application gets approved, a 2-year extension will be granted. This will take the maximum scholarship period to 36 months.

Scholarship amount

Scholarship recipients would receive 1,400 Euros monthly. If the scholarship holder has a child (or children), he/she would additionally receive a monthly allowance of 400 Euros. Scholars are also allowed to earn a small-scale additional income (meaning jobs with not more than 10 hours a week requirement) besides the scholarship.

Scholarship withdrawal

The university reserves the right to revoke the scholarship if the scholar is not applying himself/herself towards the fulfillment of the aims of the scholarship. The scholarship may also be withdrawn retroactively (from a past date).

How to apply for the RWTH Scholarship?

The application process for the scholarship is conducted by the Division for Academic Affairs, Examination, and University Law. The university committee, composed of the rector (or a delegate named by the rector), 2 professors, a postdoc, and a student representative, decides regarding the scholarship recipients.

Application deadline: 15th September for the scholarship period starting 1st November.
