With the COVID-19 showing no signs of slowing down, Delhi University has taken a decision to make the admission process as contact-less as possible. With that decision, the standing committee of admissions of DU has decided to eliminate the interview component of the PG admissions 2020. This decision comes days after the announcement of the dates for the opening of the registration portal for admissions. Owing to the pandemic, the admission process has been delayed by over two months this year because of the pandemic.
With the registrations set to begin on June 20, the norms of social distancing were taken into account for the admission process. The interview stage of the DU PG admissions generally carries 15% weightage for admission in PG courses at the University. Now the admissions will be conducted on the basis of the written examination.
In its official bulletin, DU has advised the affiliated colleges to not consider any criteria except written exams. Colleges are also to provide online counselling to students. The decisions regarding acceptance, denial, and on-hold will be conveyed to the students accompanied by a reason for the same.
Further, the original documents will be verified only once the lockdown reopens and the session begins. With the exception of forgery, no discrepancy in the documents can stand cause for cancellation of admission.
