The Financial Times (FT) 2023 Global MBA Ranking has been released. Indian B-Schools have cemented their presence in the FT Ranking over the past few years. A decade ago, it was tough to find more than a couple of Indian B-Schools in the FT Ranking list. Even until last year, there were only four B-Schools. But within a year, it has been proved that the presence of B-Schools in the FT Ranking list is going to be more pronounced. This year, IIM Indore and IIM Lucknow added two more gems to the crown.

Six Indian B-Schools have made it to the list. Indian School of Business (ISB), ranked at 39, has been judged the best B-School in India. The other five slots of the list are governed by the IIMs. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta have again redefined the ABC of B-Schools in India. They have been ranked at 51, 52, and 76, respectively. Along with this, IIM Indore and IIM Lucknow have also managed to make a place for themselves in the list at 89th and 90th spots.

What is an FT Ranking?

The FT 2023 Global MBA Ranking is one of the most trusted rankings in the world. The FT rankings use important parameters to assess the performance of an institution. The ranking assess the increase in the growth of salaries of the alumni of B-Schools. Thus, the universities whose alumni members show a sharp increase in salaries within three years of graduating are ranked higher.

In this regard, ISB surpassed even Harvard and Stanford by showing a percentage increase in alumni pay at 131%. It assures students that investing in a MBA degree from these colleges is worth the effort.

Other parameters included in the FT Ranking are alumni satisfaction, faculty ratio, internationalisation, gender parity, and employment outlook. In terms of alumni satisfaction, IIM Calcutta scored a 9.34 out of 10. It shows that those who have studied from these institutions regard the teaching practices and infrastructural support highly.

Why you should check these rankings?

Most Indians dream of having an MBA degree. In FY 2022, nearly half a million students enrolled themselves in more than 3000 MBA courses across the country. The MBA course fees in India has been rising rapidly.

Sadly, it has been seen that several B-Schools in India fail to compete on important parameters, such as graduation outcomes, research practices, and infrastructure. Therefore, it is crucial that students make an informed decision before plunging into deep-blue sea of MBA.

In such a scenario, these rankings become crucial. They scrutinise the performance of B-Schools on different parameters and allow students to determine where they would want to invest their time and money.
