Application process for IIT-Kharagpur GATE 2022 is set to begin soon. The paper is scheduled to be conducted next year on February 5, 6, 12 and 13. Interested candidates can apply for GATE 2022 on IIT Kharagpur’s official website (iitkgp.ac.in/ gate.iitd.ac.in).
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an exam that mainly tests the fundamental understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering, technology and science for admission into the further studies such as Masters Programs in reputed institutions. Apart from admission, GATE score is also used for PSU recruitment.
GATE 2022 will be a computer-based test of a duration of 180 minutes. It will be conducted across 195 dedicated centres spread across the nation. In comparison to last year’s number of 7,11,542 students who took the test, it is expected that 8,58,890 students will register for GATE 2022.

What's New in GATE 2022?
- The total number of subjects in GATE 2022, now, has increased to 29 in all including Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM).
- Eligibility Criteria for appearing in GATE exam 2022 has been relaxed to minimum 10+2+3 (ongoing)
- All test papers of GATE 2022 will be entirely of the objective type.
- Students can also opt for the prescribed set of combinations on the official site.

GATE 2022 Registration Process
In order to appear for GATE 2022, you need to complete the submission of application form and registration process. It is a five-step process which is given below:
- Register on the GOAPS website.
- Fill the application form (online) with login details sent to your number or email.
- Upload relevant documents and photographs.
- Payment of the necessary application fees as per your category (Refer below Table for fees).
- Print the document of the form.

GATE 2022 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for GATE 2022 , it is necessary for the candidate to abide by the officially released eligibility criteria:
- A candidate who has passed any government approved degree program in fields like Technology /Engineering / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE 2022 exam.
- A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or any higher years of any undergraduate degree program.
- Please note that the certifications from any of the professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Planning, etc.
- For Foreign Students: Candidates who have obtained / are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India: Must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree (duration: at least 3 years) in Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce.
