Leaving His Job At Maruti, Here's How Govind Fought His Dilemma And Performed Well In CAT!
Remember the line from TVF Aspirants, “Have Plan B if Plan A doesn’t work.” But what if your Plan A has worked and still you want to switch without having any Plan B? That was my case. I left a job without any plan B. Being an engineer, working in a company like Maruti was a dream come true until my job location was changed.
The uneasiness attached to the new job location compelled me to appear for CAT. I started my preparation in that direction and being an engineer, I was confident in scoring the desired percentile. But unfortunately, I failed in my first attempt as I fell short of 0.6 percentile in VARC sectional cut-off.
Never give up!
After failing in the first attempt, I thought of giving up on CAT and work on my startup idea. However, my friends and seniors motivated me to reappear in CAT 2020. Though it was a very difficult decision to make, I pulled up my socks and started focussing on CAT preparation. But it seemed as if the cards weren’t placed right. A month before CAT 2020, I started turning skeptical about my decision to reappear for the management entrance test. Deep down somewhere, I had convinced myself that pursuing an MBA wasn’t a good idea. In the middle of this dilemma, whether to sit for the test or not, I didn’t give a single mock test, and straightway appeared for CAT.
Fortunately, I was able to convert baby IIMs like IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Kashipur, and IIM Sirmaur. The final destination of my journey full of doubts and uncertainty was found at the doors of IIM Kashipur. One failed CAT attempt had put me into self-doubt, but the never-giving attitude landed me where I am today - IIM Kashipur!
Update: Later Govind sat for CAT 2021, and bagged a seat at MDI Gurgaon where he is currently pursuing his MBA (Batch 2022-24)
