Have you got what it takes to be an associate analyst at Deloitte USI? -By Utkarsh Pathak of Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur
Deloitte USI or Deloitte US India offers great scope for learning and provides a very positive work culture. Associate Analyst is the position offered to BCA, B.Sc (C.S.), and B.Sc (IT) students. My experience as an Associate Analyst at Deloitte USI since the start has been very exciting as well as challenging.
The 3 phased procedure for selection at Deloitte USI
The selection process consisted of 3 stages:
- Online Test
- Case Interview
- HR Interview
The online test being a preliminary round and is very different from the test conducted by other companies. Here, the test conducted does not have backtracking allowed i.e. the question once visited cannot be attempted again. The online test consists of questions from Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. The difficulty level of the exam is moderate to difficult. Approximately, 8-10% of total appearing students are selected for the second round i.e. Case Interview cum HR Interview. Here, a business case is given and students are expected to solve the business case and arrive at the optimal solution.
The stairway to getting selected
I focused and prepared majorly on my interview etiquettes. I solved many mock case interviews and tests so that I could be prepared with a strategy. My main aim was to keep the communication crystal clear. I wanted to put across all my points directly to the panel. I answered the questions they asked me with complete honesty and confidence.
My strategy was to not attempt the questions whose level of difficulty was tough so that I could attempt the maximum number of questions. I did so as there was no backtracking allowed.
The breakdown of the interview and the panel
The span of the case cum HR interview for the position of an Associate Analyst at Deloitte USI was almost 30 minutes per candidate. The Interview panel was very supportive. Here, a business case was given and students were expected to solve the business case and arrive at an optimal solution. I think interaction with the panel with confidence may improve your chances of getting selected. They were expecting a more technical approach to the business cases that were given. We were also getting assessed on the basis of our cognitive thinking skills.
Interview panels consisted of Consultants and Senior Consultants. They were considerate towards the candidates and helped them arrive at the solution if they struggled at any point in time during the business case. They were looking for a candidate who could communicate effectively, the one who is good with cognitive thinking and has strong technical knowledge.
Being able to crack the interview at my dream job as an Associate Analyst at Deloitte USI which offers the best industry package to BCA, B.Sc students was a great feeling. The job offers a great amount of learning and growing opportunities.
