My journey of acquiring the position of an Analytics Consultant at BRIDGEi2i -By Kshitij Vishnoi from GLIM Gurgaon
BRIDGEi2i is a trusted partner to enterprises that drives actions for digital transformation outcomes globally and I was very excited to be a part of this organization as an Analytics Consultant.
Selection process
BRIDGEi2i Analytics Solutions conducts three rounds for selection:
- Preliminary online skill test
- A case-based group discussion
- Interview round
The first step of the process
Unlike others, I went through 2 rounds of interviews. Both interviews were technical. The first was more related to my work experience in Mechanical engineering, the projects I did during my MBA, and my knowledge of Finance and Risk Analytics.
The second interview was rather impromptu. The lead panellist was a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) expert, therefore, he checked my skills in problem-solving in regard to Marketing and Retail Analytics. According to me, both the interviews were far from perfect as I answered about 70% of the questions asked.
The panel at BRIDGEi2i
The panel consists of Mr Anirban Chaudhari, Insurance Lead, BRIDGEi2i, heading a 4 member panel consisting of Insurance and CPG experts. The panel was extremely professional, experienced, and composed. In a panel of three, they took a 50-minute interview of each candidate. The pressure was intentionally increased during the interview by fast-paced questioning and cross-questioning. But at the end of the interview, they made sure that everybody receives credible feedback.
How I cracked the prelims and other rounds
Business Analytics was a huge role for me, especially Machine Learning and Logical Reasoning. I practised database libraries on Python like Pandas and Numpy. I learned more about exploratory data analysis for case-based group discussions. I improved my analytics jargon and worked upon my communication skills so that I can convey my thoughts and insights during group discussions.
Primarily, I focused upon every round one-by-one. I indulged myself in news related to Business Analytics more than a normal day. I made sure that I know the name, designation, and experience of all the members of the recruiting team which was an essential part.
Being able to get into my dream profile by acquiring the position of an Analytics Consultant at BRIDGEi2i was all I could ever ask for. My work here is a mixture of Consulting and Analytics, therefore, I can enhance my knowledge base in analytics while getting good exposure to clients.
The positive environment
The work culture is well-maintained. Nobody exerts unnecessary pressure on their colleagues for work. One can say that the organization is in good shape because even during these troubling times due to COVID, BRIDGEi2i recruited about 40% of their workforce.
How I broke the barriers that were pulling me down
I worked as a Project Executive in a mining firm for almost 6 years before going for an MBA. Even my professors told me that it will be really tough for a firm to recruit a 6-year experienced site engineer for an analytics job. Maybe that is the reason why I had to sit for two interviews for the role of Analytics Consultant at BRIDGEi2i while others were selected after one. There were at least 5 companies that did not even shortlist my CV because of my experience. At that point, I realized that I cannot afford even one opportunity to slip. BRIDGEi2i was the first analytics company that did not require any CV shortlisting and I cleared it.
