The world of advertisements, either on TV or on digital platforms, has amazed me since the very beginning. Being an IT graduate, I understood how behavioral targeting works but I was keen on learning the amount of planning that goes behind the making of an advertisement. So, when I got to know that Dailyhunt is coming to the campus for a summer internship drive, I was excited to the core. Doing an internship with such a reputed brand could open doors for me in the Advertising or the Media Industry.
The selection process for securing an internship at Dailyhunt was quite elaborative. It screened the candidates through 4 grueling rounds of:
To ace the selection process, I researched in-depth about the company on its website and mobile application and read extensively about it. All my hard work and efforts bore fruit when I was finally selected for doing an internship at Dailyhunt.
I was offered the position of the Sales consultant during the course of my internship at Dailyhunt. I had to devise strategies to handle the mid-market clients from the real estate and the FMCG sectors. Apart from that, I was also entrusted with the task of bringing new clients on board for the company. Now, this process demanded a lot of effort and hard work. The first step was cold calling and emailing all the possible prospects and making them aware of Dailyhunt and its activities in the digital advertising space. Post that, I had to arrange a meeting of company officials with the interested parties and try to bring it to closure. The final straw in this process was to plan and execute a digital ad-campaign for the client.
I left no stone unturned to complete the task in hand. To execute my work with perfection, I worked with three big ad-campaigns that helped me identify the KPIs that are important for businesses. This proved to a big plus point in the process of strategic planning. Overall, my internship at Dailyhunt was a well-rounded experience.
I started my internship at Dailyhunt with an expectation of learning a lot of new things. And, indeed, it turned out to be true. Specifically, the major hard skills that I could work on were Campaign Management, Number crunching, and Data analysis. Given the extent of my role, I could also work on and enhance my soft skills. Various domains that I could play around were Communication Skills, Negotiation Skills, Presentation Skills, and Competitor Analysis. In short, my internship at Dailyhunt was a bag full of learning.
I moved to Gurgaon to pursue my internship at Dailyhunt. The best aspect of the move was that the company provided me accommodation for an initial period of 2 weeks so that I could settle in the new environment easily. It was really nice of them! Although not overwhelming, moving to Gurgaon was a rewarding experience. I feel lucky that my internship paved a path for me to experience a completely new city.
The company organized an official team outing during the last month of my internship at Dailyhunt. The celebration was to commemorate the closure of a big account by one of our colleagues. The occasion was graced by the presence of Director of Sales himself. Getting a chance to listen to him directly was a quite enriching and insightful experience.
Given a chance, I would grab the opportunity to work at Dailyhunt in the blink of an eye. My prior work experience in the same field would definitely give me an edge over others. Moreover, Digital Advertising is a booming industry that will offer me an immense scope for growth in the near future. So, I will not think twice if I get a chance to work with such a reputed brand.
My mentor made my internship at Dailyhunt all in all a more joyful experience. He divided the huge task at hand into smaller steps and helped me to achieve my goal in a systematic manner. He listened to all my problems intently and provided his invaluable suggestions for the same. Instead of forcing his work methodology on me, he gave me enough flexibility to venture out and look for alternate solutions on my own. Now, that’s what I absolutely loved about him.
To sum up, my internship at Dailyhunt was a roller-coaster ride laden with learnings. What I gained was absolutely beyond my initial expectations and I cannot thank Dailyhunt enough for that.
