What was my role during my internship?

I had to work in the shoes of Supply Chain Planning during my internship at Hindustan Unilever Limited. My basic task was to coordinate assets, optimize the delivery of goods, services, and information from supplier to the customer. This enterprising role familiarized me with a new version of myself. I actually ended up doing things that I initially thought weren't my cup of tea. In this sense, I could channel my energy in productive endeavors and reach efficient outcomes. This well-structured internship provided me a lot of freedom to do things my way and create a substantial amount of impact.

What did I learn during my internship?

My internship at Hindustan Unilever Limited brought a humongous change in my personality. I cannot deny the fact that I ended up gaining more than what I had visualized. Communication, Leadership, Problem Solving, and Time Management were some of the key areas that I could focus on. The flexibility to learn and progress at my own pace was the jewel in the crown. What could have been more fulfilling than seeing yourself climb the ladder of success, taking one step at a time?

What is the work culture at Hindustan Unilever Limited?

I shifted to Hindustan Unilever Limited's guest house in Wadala during the tenure of my internship. Staying and traveling with interns from different colleges was a fun-filled experience. Listening to their stories back from the B-school acted as a great stress buster. It allowed me to unwind from the daily routine and feel fresh.

During the Induction week, all the newbies got an exciting chance to interact with senior marketing and HR leaders. It was quite inspirational to listen to their failure-to-success stories. I was touched by their humility and simplicity. If working with Hindustan Unilever Limited was a choice, I would be more than happy to grace this opportunity. The commendable work culture combined with innumerable growth opportunities will surely play a crucial role in nurturing my career.

What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?

Review sessions with my mentor were the best aspect of my internship at Hindustan Unilever Limited. Interacting with her gave me the assurance that I was headed in the right direction. Whenever I was stuck, she helped me to get back on track. Her feedback was very honest. It pushed me hard to strive for excellence. She made me understand that presentation skills speak volumes about one's hard work and I should focus on that.

There is one unforgettable incident that I can recollect which happened during the induction week. All of us were sent for consumer home visits. We had to interview the consumers to gauge their preferences. It was a very different experience, convincing the consumers to give us insights on how we can improve our products. All of us really enjoyed ourselves on that day. In one word, my internship at Hindustan Unilever Limited was a ‘captivating’ experience.
