L'Oréal Brandstorm 2026
My internship at Lowe Lintas refined my skills in Project Management -By Puja Ashwini from IIM Rohtak
One of the main reasons for pursuing an MBA was to explore this field. I wanted to understand how brands choose their marketing campaigns and what sort of research is done to reach the adopted strategy. The work culture of Lowe Lintas was well appreciated and loved by my seniors. This was one of the major factors why I wanted to intern at this organization.
Describe the selection process for an internship at Lowe Lintas
The selection process for an internship at Lowe Lintas consists of the following stages:
- Shortlisting on the basis of CV
- Personal Interview
The first step involved shortlisting on the basis of CV. Only 28 students made through this. The second stage was a Personal Interview which lasted for a good 45 minutes. It mainly revolved around my knowledge about brands and their marketing strategies.
What did I learn during my internship?
The role offered to me was of Strategy and Planning. This mainly required doing extensive market research, generating insights and suggesting appropriate strategies. One of the major skills that I enhanced during the internship at Lowe Lintas was Project Management. Apart from this, I learnt Market Segmentation, Influencer Marketing Strategy and Market Research methodologies.
My internship at Lowe Lintas was based in Gurgaon. I have stayed in the hostel since my childhood days and in various cities of India. So, adjusting to a new city has never been an issue for me. Life in Gurgaon is pretty fast-paced and for the first few days, I had a little trouble adjusting. But then I got used to the lifestyle. The experience of this city was nothing like I had ever experienced before. The culture, the people, the metro rides, the various cuisines, the night outs truly make it an unforgettable experience.
What was the work culture during my internship at Lowe Lintas?
We never went out for an outing as such but the work culture at Lowe Lintas is such that one never feels that we are sitting in an office. During lunch break and post 6:00 P.M, it is a common sight to see everyone playing Table Tennis and having fun at the pool. On my very first day, the Senior VP came to play Table Tennis with me and 2 other interns. I was completely dumbstruck! One of the best things about Lintas is that people do not follow a strict hierarchy which means that everybody's ideas, irrespective of their designation, are given equal importance. The work culture was such that I was able to establish a good rapport with each and everyone in my organization.
The major take away I got from my internship at Lowe Lintas was that for any approach you develop, always follow a Laddering Strategy. That is, keep asking ‘why’ for a particular point at least 5 times to be sure about the approach you are following. It may sound silly, but trust me when I say this, this helps a lot when developing a new strategy. I would surely love to join the company if given a chance. I absolutely loved my role there and enjoyed every part of the work. To see a prototype of an advertisement and then actually see it on TV screens made me feel like I was on cloud nine!
An interesting incident that happened during my internship at Lowe Lintas
One fine afternoon my mentor called me and asked if I could go to Udaipur for the next couple of days for project work. Opportunities like this are rare, so, I immediately leapt at it. The next day I landed in Udaipur. This was my first time in a new city all alone. I would say these two days were the best days of my internship at Lowe Lintas. I was there to conduct market research and got an opportunity to meet the local people of Udaipur. It's not just the technical skills that I gained in these couple of days but a lot of lessons related to life. The most important thing that I learnt was to be confident on my own, to enjoy my own company and to get work done efficiently.
