How an internship at SRIJAN improved my skills in Logistics and Operation Management | Rasagna’s story

SRIJAN, established in 1997, is making a difference to the lives of 80,280 rural families spread across 7 Indian States. Getting a chance to do an internship at SRIJAN was a privilege for me. The role on offer was that of entrepreneurship, a domain of my interest. I knew that this internship would provide me an opportunity to understand different domains of management and have a hands-on real-time experience.

Personal Interview

After being shortlisted, I got a call for Personal Interview. In this round, there were 6-panel members and the questions revolved around my CV and past experiences. Sailing through both the rounds, I was finally selected for an internship.

What was my role during my internship at SRIJAN?

I was offered the role of a Management Intern in Social Entrepreneurship during the course of my internship at SRIJAN. This role catered to my interests well and allowed me to experiment with various domains within the sphere of Management. Moreover, this role always kept me on my toes and I had to work day and night to fulfil my responsibilities. Overall, my internship was a well-rounded experience.

What did I learn during my internship?

Given the domain of my role, I got an opportunity to work on my hard and soft skills. Various hard skills that I could improve upon were Logistics, Operation Management and Marketing. The value addition came in the form of enhanced Communication, Listening, Networking and Persuasion Skills. In short, doing an internship at SRIJAN turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.

What is the work culture at SRIJAN?

As a part of my internship at SRIJAN, I had to stay in a rural area for approximately 2 months. Apart from that I also got an opportunity to visit a couple of different cities for multiple tasks. As there was a difference in lifestyle, people and culture, it was an entirely new experience for me. After my internship at SRIJAN, I feel that I have become more agile and capable of adapting to new surroundings with the utmost ease.

What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?

My mentor always stood by my side during the course of my internship at SRIJAN. He taught me different strategies to tackle challenges. Moreover, his basic emphasis was on analyzing a problem from different angles. This gave a broader perspective and multiple approaches to deal with it. All these learnings will definitely help me in the near future.

In a nutshell, my internship at SRIJAN was an enjoyable, memorable and wonderful experience. I got the much needed practical exposure and hands-on experience in varied domains of Management. Last but not the least, I forged connections and friendships that are going to stay with me forever.
