Vedanta Limited, a truly global Natural Resources company, strives hard to leave an indelible imprint on communities they work in. Moreover, they also wish to leave behind a heritage of core values that other organizations will look up to. My decision to pursue my internship at Vedanta Limited came after a lot of deliberation and I am glad that I went ahead with my instinct.

What is the selection process for doing an internship at Vedanta Limited?

The selection process for securing an internship at Vedanta Limited was fairly simple and well organized. It comprised of three rounds of:

  1. Resume Shortlisting

  2. Group Discussion

  3. Personal Interview

An astounding combination of a sound resume, confidence, and focused preparation worked wonders for me. All these factors together allowed me to leave me a lasting impression on the mind of the recruiter and secure my dream internship.

What was my role during my internship at Vedanta Limited?

During the course of my internship at Vedanta Limited, I interned under the profile of Talent Acquisition and Talent Management. I was staffed on a project titled “Exit Analysis” under which I had to conduct Stay interviews for Present Employees and Post-Exit Analysis for the Ex-Employees. On the basis of my analysis, I had to implement the results on the Pre-Onboarding App and discuss the possible consequences with my mentor. This dynamic role required sheer dedication, passion, and determination to be fulfilled. Overall, I can say that my internship gave me a reality check and made me aware of the existing skillset.

What did I learn during my internship?

My internship at Vedanta Limited was a bag full of learning. Given the domain of role, I got a wonderful opportunity to enhance my Corporate Communication Skills. Apart from this, I also inculcated the art of conducting events and programs in a professional manner. In a true sense, my internship at Vedanta Limited groomed me into a thorough professional ready to enter the corporate world.

What is the work culture at Vedanta Limited?

I moved to the beautiful location of Lanjigarh, Odisha, to pursue my internship at Vedanta Limited. The unusual calmness of this location awed me and assisted me in discovering and unveiling the nature's beauty from close. Sadness overpowered me when I had to bid adieu to this majestic place after a memorable stay of close to 2 months.

For me, the most interesting incident happened when people mistakenly considered me as a permanent employee and started sharing their grievances with me. I and my friends had a good laugh about it afterward. Another memorable moment that I can recollect occurred when the Head HR canceled my tickets a day before my departure and threw a surprise farewell party for me. His gesture absolutely mesmerized me. I couldn’t thank him enough for that.

What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?

My mentor acted as my support system during the course of my internship at Vedanta Limited. The most important feedback from the review sessions was that whenever you study a framework, adopt a holistic approach to achieve desired end results. Attending her review sessions brought about a sea change in my personality. It made me franker and straight forward while addressing problems. She always stood by my side whenever I needed her.

To sum up, my internship at Vedanta Limited was one hell of an experience. It is definitely going to stay with me forever. During my journey, I gained several invaluable insights that helped me to break my stereotypical conception of the corporate culture. Now, I feel like a well-informed individual equipped with adequate competency to strive and thrive in this sector.
