How I became a Data Analyst Ninja During My Internship At Royal Enfield? Arpita Jhunjhunwala's story
It all started with us being called to the auditorium. The hour-long presentation about the company and its heritage got all of us excited. The brand name ‘Royal Enfield’, a crowned jewel for the resume, was enough to instill enthusiasm within us. With this, I was confident enough to start my journey with an internship at Royal Enfield, a profound company.
Royal Enfield is a brand which I have known ever since I was a kid. I have always associated bike riding with freedom, even though I lacked the skill to ride a bike. In my point of view, I think this brand has successfully reinforced this association.
What is the selection process for an Internship at Royal Enfield?
The selection process was very intriguing unlike any other I have been through in the past. We were asked to do the following:
- Sketch your interpretation of the company and writing about yourself.
- Group discussion
- Personal Interview.
We were all given a fair chance. Being a fresher, I was very nervous while entering the interview room. However, once I started talking, my nervousness vanished into thin air.
The conversation did not test my mettle but instead gauged my personality. Getting selected and signing the confirmation letter was the happiest moment of my life! Their unique selection process from the beginning to the culmination has helped me in substantiating my association with the company. It speaks volumes about their authenticity and values.
Shifting to Gurgaon for the entire period of my internship, initially seemed a tough task. I was managing things on my own for the first time and learned a lot. The overall experience turned out to be splendid. I got opportunities to travel to various cities for the project. It was amazing to be able to work and travel at the same time.
What did I learn from my Internship at Royal Enfield?
The area of my project revolved around Market Research. In a time where most brands are targeting the new generation, the idea of my project required me to understand the lifestyle and media utilization of youth. One key takeaway from my mentor was the ability to work under ambiguous situations. I learned skills like Leadership, Research, Data Analysis, Teamwork, and Communication. These were a few of the many which helped me a great deal during the project as well as in building my personality as a whole.
My first team-meet was in the office itself. I was assigned to work with multiple teams and was made to understand the deliverables of the project and the expectations from the same. The boardroom and the corporate setting itself was enough to charm me and fuel my energy.
An interesting and unforgettable incident as I recall was the day of my final presentation which went on for an entire evening. It left everybody present there regretting their decision of not ordering snacks and coffee!
Above all, my internship experience was a dream come true for me and if given an opportunity, I would definitely enjoy working at Royal Enfield. I would, however, like to work on my profile before joining.
