How Nikita’s internship at Bank of Maharashtra fed into her interest in the Finance Sector? 
Bank of Maharashtra, currently with a customer base of 15 million, has marked its presence across the Indian subcontinent. My deep founded love for the Banking and Financial Services could only be fulfilled by doing an internship with such a reputed Banking Organization. So, when I got this lucrative offer of doing an internship at Bank of Maharashtra, I could not hold myself back from gracing this opportunity.

What is the selection process for doing an internship at Bank of Maharashtra?


Unlike other banks, the selection process for doing an internship at Bank of Maharashtra did not comprise of a number of steps. The selection was made on the basis of marks obtained in a Common test conducted by the bank itself. Rigorous practice and self-confidence is the key to crack the Bank of Maharashtra’s selection process. I was on cloud nine after clearing this test because now I was ready to foray into my field of interest; Banking.

What was my role during my internship at Bank of Maharashtra?


My internship at Bank of Maharashtra allowed me to lay my hands on the domain of Credit Appraisal, Restructuring of MSME Sector, Forex, and Retail Operations Observation. All these responsibilities were relatively new for me and initially seemed challenging. But as the days progressed, I became well-versed with the core ethics of the Banking Industry and my role felt more and more rewarding. All-in-all, doing an internship at Bank of Maharashtra was one of those experiences that I had always been on the lookout for. 

What did I learn during my internship?


The dynamism attached to my role gave me enough room to introspect and work on my people skills. I also got a chance to experience first hand learning on areas such as Relationship Management, Analysis of Proposals, and Problem-solving. I knew that my internship at Bank of Maharashtra would teach me a lot, but the insightful experiences that I gained on my way were completely unexpected. This strengthened my belief that after my internship, I was going to become a better individual, both personally and professionally. And indeed, this turned out to be true. Now, I feel like a trained professional well-versed with the core sensibilities of the Banking sector.

What is the work culture at Bank of Maharashtra?


To attend my internship, I moved to Pune, a city dotted with wadas nestled between hills. The mere thought of experiencing a new city excited me to the core. Therefore, I did not think twice before making the move. The stringent deadlines left us with no time for an official team outing. But the Zonal and the Forex Department always ensured that all the newbies were having a fun time working there.

Given a chance, I would grab the opportunity to work with the Bank of Maharashtra without a second thought. The cooperative work culture combined with supportive seniors makes it my dream place to work at. The work environment at Bank of Maharashtra is conducive for all round-development and inclusive growth of an individual. What else can a starry-eyed fresher expect from his first job! 

What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?


The best aspect of my internship was the review sessions with my mentor. For him, my personal development was more important than the work in hand. His basic thrust was on areas that I lacked in. He always encouraged me to think from the perspective of the customer as that would improve my efficiency of delivering solutions. His presence made my internship at Bank of Maharashtra altogether a more memorable experience.

To sum up, doing an internship at Bank of Maharashtra was a journey laden with rich experiences. It allowed me to break a lot of stereotypes related to working in the Banking Sector. This internship experience was packed with heavy insights. In addition to this, I got a flavor of multiple roles in a single internship.
