How to become the winner of OnePlus ET Prime Intellect 2020 -By Nitin Koul from SCMHRD Pune
OnePlus ET Prime Intellect 2020 is an Economic Times initiative to find the most innovative and creative management graduates from the upcoming pool of business minds. The competition was modelled as a case study challenge. The program allows management students to experience real-life business problems as well as the complexities associated with the process of solving those business challenges.
There were three rounds in the contest.
1. Case submission
2. On-ground case presentation
3. Program finale
Virtual Case study competition
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, OnePlus ET Prime Intellect 2020 was organized virtually. Due to the ongoing global crises, this was the first time that students appeared for a virtual finale. It was quite interesting and a different experience to answer questions virtually.
This shows that the corporates have different alternatives to run B-school competitions.
The jury team had its defined set of parameters like (scalability, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, practicality) for judging the solution and I guess parameters were in line with the business case. This was my first virtual B-school competition.
Smart work is key to success
The case study was a blend of different strategies. I brainstormed and thought through the scenarios and reached to a conclusion to use the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy. My strategy was to implement an effective and efficient GTM strategy and to have an effective Human Resource structuring plan to make the business more sustainable and feasible.
I worked for a couple of days, analyzing various facets and the problems that the case is offering. Based on my analysis, I churned out several pointers that I could make use of, while solving problems. I applied the elimination method (that we generally apply in solving CAT) in terms of the effectiveness and practical applicability of the solution.
Nothing is impossible
Coming from a Human Resources background, it was a big deal for me to take part in this case study competition. During OnePlus ET Prime Intellect 2020, I learned to implement different ideas of marketing strategies in a given case.
My friends from SCMHRD have helped a lot in guiding me during this competition. They helped me to look in an appropriate direction while solving the case. This contest has given me memories, knowledge and confidence to ace competitions.
