Stress seems to be the unwanted by product of our modern lifestyles. And how to de-stress is a question that does the rounds more often than we can imagine. From a college-going teen to a 3-year work ex B-Schooler to professionals, stress is a problem that cannot be shoved under the carpet and forgotten. It will catch up to us if not dealt with, in the right manner.

When you work hard, you are bound to have moments when you feel that the pressure is getting simply too much. Even the most successful people are privy to the ill-effects of stress. Finding a way to de-stress yourself can sometimes lead to triggering even more pent-up tension.

So here are the stress-relieving practices of three multimillionaires whose names you most definitely will be familiar with!

Bill Gates

The co-founder of Microsoft recently stepped down from being the CEO of the multinational technological giant. He has been involved in charity work ever since. The second richest man in the world has a rather simple way of eliminating his stress - playing bridge! He often plays with his buddy Warren Buffet, who also enjoys the game.

Gates also indulges in the board game ‘Settlers of Catan’ with his family. It is a building strategy board game that qualifies for the ‘brain games’ category. Both Bridge and Settlers of Clan require players to apply their mind and can be a good way to de-stress!

If you don’t like bridge you can try other card games that are equally engaging and can help you relax after a long day of work.

The take away from how Bill Gates chooses to de-stress is, to engage your mind in an activity that is fun but also stimulates the mind at some level. This ensures that your mind is able to run at the same pace while ensuring that it actually enjoys it and doesn't get tired.

Warren Buffet

As the CEO and Chairman of his company, Warren Buffet is probably subject to multiple stressful situations in a day. But the 89-year old philanthropist is often seen playing his ukulele and singing at board meetings!

Playing a musical instrument (or learning to play one), has a lot of brain benefits. It sharpens memory, helps your mind ‘reboot’ after exhaustion, and is also known to counteract the effects of ageing! A ukulele is a smart choice because it is fairly easy to learn, and is also not very expensive to buy. 

A fun way would be to start learning it with your parents or your grandparents. In today’s world, everyone has some or the other thing to worry about, and music is never disappointing when it comes to calming down the mind!

Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban was a millionaire by the age of 32. And he has been a familiar face on Shark Tank for nine years now. His go-to activity is to indulge in an hour of cardio almost every day. He plays basketball, does kickboxing, and sometimes even Latin fusion!

Cuban is a brilliant entrepreneur and his ideas are extremely driven. He also watches television as a way to de-stress. Now, that might not be a popular method amongst experts, but Mark Cuban says he likes to watch ‘cities get destroyed’, in end-of-the-world flicks. And frankly, that is not a bad way to channel pent-up aggression. He also loves to watch Law and Order (so that one cannot be too difficult to follow!)

While television might not work for everyone, exercise is definitely a great stress buster. Whether you go for a jog, indulge in a sport, hit the gym, or do yoga. It is also great for your body and can help keep your vitals strong.

So while these movers and shakers of the business world might seem like they live otherworldly lives, they are also human. They are just as prone to stress and exhaustion as we are. If these simple methods can help them bust their stress, they are definitely worth a try to de-stress yourself!
