IIFT Exam 2023 Registration Opens, Know The Details (Direct Registration Link Inside)

For MBA aspirants, clearing the CAT exam opens doors to the top MBA institutes of the country. However, focussing on MBA entrances apart from CAT is equally important. One such exam is the IIFT MBA entrance exam. The exam for the prestigious Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) which is held in December every year has 2 stages as part of the selection process:

• Objective-Type Test
• Group Discussion and Personal Interview

The exam is held in computer-based mode. The eligible candidates need to take the exam for admission into different branches of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade i.e. IIFT Delhi, IIFT Kolkata, and IIFT Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh).

IIFT's MBA (International Business) Programme

IIFT offers an MBA (International Business) programme which is a six-trimester general management programme for creating a competent cadre of business executives to meet India's growing requirements for trained personnel in the field of International Business Management.

Who conducts the IIFT exam?

The IIFT MBA entrance exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). This year NTA will be conducting the IIFT 2023 exam for admission to the IIFT-MBA (International Business) Programme 2023-25. IIFT also accepts foreign/NRI/PIO candidates but for them, the admission is on the basis of GMAT score.

As per the format, there are Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness sections in the 2-hour long IIFT exam. 

IIFT Exam Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for the IIFT exam, the candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

• Requisite Qualification: Bachelor’s degree of at least three years duration in any discipline or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50 percent aggregate in graduation. (For candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD category a minimum of 45 percent aggregate is required). 
• Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply. 
• There is no upper age restriction for taking the IIFT exam.

IIFT Exam Syllabus Details 

IIFT syllabus is similar to other MBA entrance exams. Hence, if you have prepared thoroughly for CAT, you must also take a shot at IIFT since you may have covered most of the syllabus of IIFT as well. The main subjects asked in IIFT are Data Interpretation, English, Quantitative Analysis, Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness. Given below are the important topics

IIFT Exam Pattern 

The exam pattern of IIFT exam 2023 is the same as IIFT 2022. The exam shall be of two hours duration. There will be four sections in the question paper. This is an online exam and consists of negative marking as well. The number of questions in the NTA IIFT exam is not fixed and have been varying from year to year. 

Is IIFT difficult to crack?

IIFT MBA exam is usually moderately difficult. As compared to CAT, the exam is considered to be less difficult. The General Awareness section is said to be the easiest. This section doesn't need to be prepared separately and anyone who has been preparing for other MBA exams or has been in touch with current affairs and has decent general knowledge would be able to score well in this section. The rest of the sections need a similar preparation strategy as CAT.

Tips for IIFT MBA Entrance Examination

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade MBA is a sought-after programme for which thousands of students take the entrance test. Hence, one needs to be well-prepared for the examination. Here are a few tips for preparing for IIFT MBA admission:

• Since, the exam has negative markings for every wrong answer, practice a good number of questions to ensure accuracy. Solving one IIFT mock test every two or three days can be really helpful for this. You may increase the frequency of the practice tests as the exam approaches nearer. 
• Go through the previous year's question paper to get a good idea about the type of questions asked and understand the pattern of the IIFT exam.
• Brush up your general knowledge and current affairs. This section is considered relatively easier, Hence, you must try to not lose marks here. 
• Manage your time well. The four sections in this exam require you to devote your time as per the difficulty level. For example, reading comprehension is considered lengthy, while the general awareness section needs less time.
