IIM Lucknow wins Accenture B-school Challenge 2018
Accenture, a global management consulting and professional services firm recently concluded their Accenture B-school Challenge 2018 and IIM Lucknow emerged as the winner of this season.
Digitalisation is transforming the way we work and a big company like Accenture has gauged its importance and gave an opportunity to the students of best B-schools in India in the form of a B-school challenge. Such competition makes the students learn practical business skills from industry experts and help them unleash the benefits of the digital transformation
The challenge commenced with an intra-college competition, trailed by an inter-college competition, where Accenture selected the best strategists to enable them to refine their technique and enhance their business acumen and to procure profitable professional experience which will be advantageous for their future.
Accenture B-school Challenge 2018 had three intra-school rounds excluding the inter-college finale round. The interested candidates had to Register in teams of three and qualify through the rapid-fire online quiz before September 7. The qualifying teams were announced by September 11.
The qualified teams then had to participate in the exciting online business simulation round. The theme of this round centred around ‘live your dream of being a CEO and making your company profitable.’Candidates had to solve real-time challenges in the time-bound session and take decisions as a CEO. This round truly tested the strategic skills of the participants.
The top 5 victorious campus finalists then present their winning story (strategy) to the Accenture Leadership. The winning team per campus gets a chance to represent their campus in the inter-school grand finale round.
This year around 5,000 students of 10 premier business schools had participated in Accenture B-school Challenge 2018. 1700 teams had participated in the first round which was a rapid-fire online quiz on business. Out of 1700 teams, 15 were selected per campus for the second round. Five teams per campus were selected for the third round and finally, one team was chosen per campus for the final round.
After a tough fight, the team from IIM Lucknow emerged as victorious. Teams from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Kozhikode were the first and second runner respectively. The top three winning team members received a pre-placement Interview opportunity with Accenture, besides other prizes.
Other participating schools were teams from IIM Bengaluru, IIM Calcutta, JBIMS (Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies), S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, ISB (Indian School of Business), FMS (Faculty of Management Studies), Delhi, and XLRI (Xavier School of Management) Jamshedpur.
Competitions like Accenture B-school Challenge ‘18 provide new insights to the students on the way how a business is led in this period of digitalisation. These competitions act a salad bowl for ideas, where they blend and enrich, which in turn is beneficial both for the company and the participants.
