IIM Shillong summer placements 2021 register an excellent record; highest stipend touches INR 3 Lakh for two months

IIM Shillong, one of the premier management institutes of India, has released its summer placement report for 2021, registering an excellent record of placement with a growth in the average stipend by 17%. A total of 195 students taking part in IIM Shillong summer placements 2021 received 208 offers with the highest stipend offered INR 3,00,000. The average package for IIM Shillong’s 12th batch stood at INR 1.31 lakh as compared to INR 1.12 lakh for two months in the previous year. 

Major highlights of IIM Shillong summer placements 2021 

Sales & marketing leads the way; consulting follows suit

Sales and marketing remained the most sought-after domain with 33% of the total offers. Consulting followed suit with 24% of the offers. The highest stipend was offered in these two domains along with general management, which constituted 8% of the total offers. Finance was the third most sought-after domain with 17% of the total offers, followed by IT & Analytics with 12% of the total offers.

BFSI remained to be the sector with most offers (26%) followed by manufacturing & retail (13%). Out of 208 of the total offers, 25 were made for FMCG (12%), making it the third most desirable sector. 

Prominent recruiters

IIM Shillong summer placements 2021 saw the participation of 68 recruiters, a growth of 25% from the tally of 54 recruiters last year. The prominent recruiters remained to be Google, Bain & Co., BCG, Goldman Sachs, D.E. Shaw & Co., and IBM. In the sales & marketing domain, Google, ITC, Pidilite, TATA Steel, Pepsico recruited big. The consulting domain saw Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte India, Easy Policy, Future Generali, Innolabz Ventures, Inyt Technologies, Lifelong Retail, OLA, Pay1, Qwixpert, ReleaseMyAd, and Tavaga taking lead.

The finance domain offered the highest stipend as INR 2.4 lakh for two months, Bajaj Finserv, Goldman Sachs, HSBC Bank, ICICI Bank, Nomura Investment Bank, and Yes Bank recruited huge numbers. The list of first-time offerers in finance saw some big names including ABFRL and D.E. Shaw & Co. This year IIM Shillong summer placements 2021 witnessed increased participation of recruiters in the general management domain. The companies who participated in the drive in the respective domain included AB InBev, Aditya Birla Group, MetLife, and Muthoot Fincorp with Reliance Industries Limited and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank as first-time offerers.

The HR & Operations domain at IIM Shillong summer placements 2021 witnessed participation from D.E. Shaw, Droom, Reliance Industries Limited, TATA Steel, and Titan. The IT & Analytics domain recruiters were Fidelity Investments, IBM, Liberty Insurance, Metacog Innovations, Quipper, Specialty Polyfilms, ValueLabs, and Zenoti offering Business Analytics & Research, New Product Development, and Process Optimization roles.
