IIT Internship In Ladakh: Both Short & Long-Term Opportunities For STEM Students; M.Tech Option Also Available

The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has collaborated with three of the top IITs of the country - IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Kanpur to offer internship opportunities(both short and long-term) to undergraduate students in STEM. As part of the collaboration, one M.Tech opportunity has also been announced which will be based in Ladakh.

The candidates selected for the internship will receive a stipend of up to INR 50,000. The M.Tech students will receive a monthly stipend of INR 25,000.

IIT STEM Internships In Ladakh: Details

As part of the initiative, the following three options will be made available to the students. 

• Short-term Internships for undergraduate students - these internships will last for a duration of 1.5 to 2 months.
• Long-term Internships for undergraduate students - these internships will last for a duration of 6 months.
• Sponsored MTech programs - this program will continue for a duration of 2 years.

The initiative will be made available for students pursuing the following degrees in Ladakh:

• Students currently pursuing an undergraduate STEM degree.
• Students with an undergraduate degree or diploma in STEM from any college or polytechnic.
• Students from Ladakh who are pursuing or have completed an undergraduate degree or diploma in STEM at any other college.

Note: Students are free to choose their preferred IIT and discipline although the selection committee will make the final decision on matching student interest, merit, and supervisor availability. 

IIT STEM Internship In Ladakh: Application Process

Interested students must apply by June 30, 2022, and those chosen will gain internship experience and work on a project in a laboratory at their respective IITs. Not only that, the initiative by the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh is a great opportunity to kickstart fresh talent and instigate the motivation to do something inspiring in students.
