The pandemic has been the oil to the rumor mills and placements did not go unscathed. There were predictions of the economic slump adversely affecting the placements at top institutes. However, IIT Kanpur lay all these to rest as it’s students walk home with handsome packages from reputable employers. The highest package offered at IIT Kanpur campus placements 2020 was by one of the MNCs and was worth approximately INR 1.47 CR PA.

The placement process that began on December 1, 2020, also saw an Indian organization make an offer of INR 82 Lakhs PA.

What changed for IIT Kanpur Campus placements 2020?

The sources said that there was no improvement in the packages provided by the multinational corporations in dollars. However, this year the bundle offered in dollars decreased due to a weak rupee. The highest package in the Indian currency in the previous year was INR 1.50 CR in the placement push conducted online due to the pandemic. On the other hand, domestic recruiters made much more lucrative offers during the drive. The rise was to the tune of INR 20 Lakhs PA. Most Indian companies have offered the highest packages of INR 82 lakh this year as compared to the INR 62.28 lakh package offered last year.

Since the beginning of campus placement, nearly 120 companies have arrived for selecting suitable candidates. Other companies will reach as per the fixed schedule by December 9 - the last day of the first phase of the campus placement said the placement cell sources of the institute. EXL Service, Axis, Vmock, and Sterlite were the top recruiters. The sources in the placement cell said the placement process would continue till December 9 as against December 15 last year.
