Bright Minds Scholarships Programme
Lokvir Kapoor, an institution alumnus, has provided assistance and helped establish the Bright Minds Scholarships Program. Along with him, additional alumni and donors support the scholarship program in order to motivate and recognise academically gifted children. Students' entire tuition, lodging, and other expenses will be covered by the scholarship.
- The scholarships will be put into effect after the academic session of 2021-22.
- The scholarship is open to students whose family's annual gross income is less than Rs 20 lakh.
- The tuition, housing, books, and other fees of the students will be waived as a reward for their efforts.
For the upcoming academic year, the unique scholarship will be awarded to 10 deserving students who will attend IIT Kanpur. Each selected student would be eligible to a 3 lakh award each year under the scholarship programme.
“With unique benefits, scholarships are a visible and coveted form of prestige available to the students during their formal education and attach a certain level of distinction and recognition to their career. We hope that the scholarships will attract the best of students” said Prof Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur.
Similar Scholarships by IITs
A similar effort to educate bright minds was previously made by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). IIT Kharagpur's scholarship programme is another such example. The "Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Full Scholarship for Top 100 JEE (Advanced) Rankers" has been established by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur as the first of its type in India.
This full-ride scholarship covers all of a student's expenditures at IIT Kharagpur till they complete their B.Tech degree. IIT Kharagpur's director, Prof Virendra Kumar Tewari, announced the program's implementation for the academic session 2021-22 on August 18, 2021, on IIT Kharagpur's 71st Foundation Day.
