IIT Madras launches certification course in software engineering for Cloud and Blockchain

IIT Madras has opened its doors to a wide array of virtual programs and certifications. Apart from its recent online courses under the NPTEL program, IIT Madras has also opened a full-time online Bachelor’s degree in Data Science. The most recent addition to the institute’s online programs is a certification course in software engineering for Cloud and Blockchain.

The program which will last for 9 months will be offered through a Great Learning, a professional learning firm. The course will be developed and delivered by faculty from both IIT Madras and Great Learning. A total of 300 hours in online video learning sessions, live sessions, and practical projects will be involved in the program. The course will span across the areas of cloud computing, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT). You can apply directly for the course here.

According to Great Learning, the program is meant to refine the skills of current and aspiring software developers. It will involve upskilling and preparing the participants for the software development industry. IIT Madras will be offering a completion certificate at the end of the online course.

IIT Madras, in an official statement, said that the program will begin with a foundational knowledge of software engineering involving data structures, software architecture, and algorithm design. It will also go into discussing IoT data sources, networking, implementation of IoT on the cloud, big data, and analytics in detail. It will also touch upon the topics of microservices, cloud deployment, and DevOps. Participants will be given an in-depth understanding of Blockchain fundamentals and creating Blockchain applications.

According to Janakiraman, Professor at IIT Madras, “It is important for our software engineers and software professionals to master these technologies. This is important if India has to retain its edge in a software-dominated world. With that in mind, the institute has decided to offer the Advanced Software Engineering program.”
