Most educational institutions today have shifted to online teaching methods. Classes are being held online, and in some places, so are the examinations. Going a step further in this e-learning trend, IIT Madras now offers over 400 free online courses under the National Programming on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) program. The courses, that will run from July to December 2020 are open to everyone, including professionals!
Along with IIT Madras, six other IITs (Guwahati, Bombay, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Delhi, and Roorkee), as well as IISc Bangalore, have a part in the NPTEL initiative.
The NPTEL initiative aims to offer online courses that are not only free but are also open to everyone. These courses will vary across the fields of engineering, humanities, and science.
The enrollment is now open for the free online courses at IIT Madras. To apply for any of the courses you can visit the NPTEL Online Courses (NOC website). The NOC website also lists other online courses under the NPTEL initiative.
While the courses are free, a fee of Rs 1000 will be required in order to give the examination. The last date to register is July 27, 2020, and the course ends on September 1. Exams would be held about a month later from September 27.
