India, New Zealand commences the education week from October 5, 2020
The Education week, which is a virtual education conclave, between New Zealand and India begins today. It will extend from October 5th, 2020 to October 9th, 2020 between 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The conclave is an initiative to bring together experts, academia, and researchers from both New Zealand and the Indian education landscape.
Technology and education
The event is being organised by Education New Zealand (ENZ), the country’s governmental agency for international education. David Pine, the High Commissioner of New Zealand to India and Bangladesh, and John Laxon, the Regional Director-Asia, ENZ inaugurated the event.
Laxon exclaimed that he was beyond excited to launch this event, making use of the technology to connect with students and academicians across India. He added that all of their universities represented during the week featured in the top 3% globally in the 2020 QS World University Rankings, which offered the students internationally recognised and transferable qualifications and skills.
Vibrant virtual education conclave
The academic week will be inclusive of panel discussions with industry leaders and experts, masterclasses from the academicians of New Zealand, an exhibition of the indigenous culture of New Zealand, and a daily quiz for the students throughout the event. The event will also give the insight to hear from the Indian students in New Zealand regarding the implication of Covid-19 on the future education sector.
The organisers of the event were happy to announce that the education ties of New Zealand and India have only strengthened with time, as the number of Indian students who are studying in New Zealand universities rose to 37% in 2019. Despite the disorientation brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a very active engagement between the institutions of both the nations.
