Insightful Journey and Excellent Work Culture | Simran Singh's Internship With ICICI Bank

ICICI Bank happens to be one of the largest public companies in India. I wanted to get into financial marketing. What could be a better company than this? The selection process for an internship with ICICI Bank comprised of:

  1. Group discussion

  2. Followed by personal interviews that qualified the GD round

After breezing through the selection process I was finally interning with the Corporate brand group of ICICI Bank. Any communication related to ICICI Bank, from Banner advertisements, Digital Advertisements, TVCs on any form of media - Print or digital was rolled out by the team I was working with. It was just so exciting and exhilarating to be a part of the projects they handled.

When I look back at the take away from my internship with ICICI Bank only one very strong emotion comes to mind, "The skills that I learnt cannot be summed up in one paragraph!”. This article cannot be grand enough to do justice to my learning while interning at ICICI Bank. I shall still try to pen down most of them.

In terms of professional skills, I gained insights on various marketing concepts such as internal branding, ATL and BTL branding, Viral and content marketing, working with various marketing agencies to identify the insight that runs the campaign.

In terms of soft skills, as a fresher, I think this internship has taught me more in 2 months than I could have otherwise learnt in a year! How to work successfully in a team, how to accept and apologize if you're wrong about something, how to pay attention first and then offer constructive opinions. The list is essentially very long.

My experience wouldn't have been the same without my Mentor, Buddy and my so very helpful and supportive team. When someone said, teamwork makes the dream work, they knew what they were talking about.

My B-School is in Mumbai and my internship with ICICI Bank was in their Mumbai office. However, there were other interns from other cities. And it was fun to be guides for them. It made me look at Mumbai from a whole new perspective. It was truly a lot of fun, to get to know them personally.

During my internship with ICICI Bank, the insights that I received from my buddy are the ones I will never forget. They have in essence shaped a huge part of me professionally. No matter what the job is, It could be as trivial as it can get, you must do it with all the same dedication. Do it as your life depends on it. Just because you're summer trainee from a good school, doesn't make any task beneath or above you.

On my last official working day, my team treated me to dinner and drinks. It was so much fun to get to know them, and not just as co-workers. Farewell Gate-a-way - On our last day at ICICI Bank, the campus team arranged an adventure filled Gate-a-away for the summer interns. The memories I made there with the other interns are the ones I would truly never forget.

Given a chance to work with ICICI Bank, I would grab the opportunity in a heartbeat. The reasons are very simple; exciting work, excellent work culture, a supportive and friendly team, a mentor and buddy who takes pains to teach you and help you. I also made some of the best of friends amongst the interns. ICICI Bank was truly one hell of an experience!
