IPM: Get admission into an IIM directly after your class 12th!

Getting into one of the top IIMs of the country is a dream come true for a student in India. But the courses offered in these top management institutes of India are for post-graduation studies. So is there any other path to get into an IIM right after class 12th? Well, the answer is yes! The five-year integrated programme in management (IPM), which was launched by IIM Indore in 2011 is a direct pathway for class 12th pass-out students to study at IIM for further education.

The uniqueness of the IPM programme

The IPM course allows class 12th students the opportunity to study at one of the top IIM for further education and is the first of its kind in the country. It has been accredited by the Association of MBAs, London (4th and 5th year). The learning goals of the programme are split into those for the first 3 years and the last 2 years.

This programme consists of 15 terms spread over a period of 5 years with each year having 3 terms of 3 months.

Three major elements of the course are:

1. Courses in Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics 
2. Courses in Psychology, Sociology and Political Science along with courses in Economics
3. Courses in Humanities, Literature, and Fine Arts

This course by IIM Indore allows direct entry into the IIM for further education after 12th and gives the participants the degree of Bachelor of Arts (Foundation of Management) and Masters of Business Administration (under the Dual degree programme) who successfully complete it.

Internships during the duration of the IPM course 

The students of this course are required to complete a social internship at the end of the 2nd year and a business internship along with the PGP students between the 4th and 5th year.

The selection process of the IPM course 

The IPM course which is a gateway for class 12th students to study at an IIM for further education has a rigorous selection process:

1. The first stage requires the aspirants to fill an application form which is aimed at understanding the student’s proficiency in academics as well as co-curricular activities.
2. After this, the aspirants have to give an entrance examination in order to test the applicant’s aptitude, logical reasoning, and proficiency in English and Mathematics.
3. The shortlisted candidates have to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). The aim of the interview is to judge the candidate’s level of confidence, communication skills, general awareness, persuasion skills, and knowledge
