The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently declared the JEE Main 2021 March session result for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.). The exam was conducted by NTA from 16 to 18 March 2021 and a total of 61,9638 candidates had registered for it. Kavya Chopra, a candidate from Delhi created history by becoming the first female to score 100% marks in the exam.

Kavya scored 300 out of 300 marks in the JEE Main 2021 March session thus becoming the first female candidate to score 100% marks in the coveted examination. In her February attempt, she had scored 99.9 percentile and was not satisfied with her score. She says, "I scored 99.97 percentile in the February attempt but my target was to score more than 99.98 percentile, so I appeared for the JEE Main March session. In my first attempt, the focus was more on Physics and Chemistry, however, I had scored low in the Chemistry paper. During the last 15 days between February and March examinations, I had focused on the Chemistry section”.

She decided to appear for the March session exam in which she scored 100 percentile. She shared her strategy for the JEE Main 2021 March session exam and said that in the gap of 15 days she studied the NCERT book for Chemistry thoroughly. It helped her in improving her score in the March attempt. She also stressed the importance of practice and how it can be the only way to avoid and reduce silly mistakes during exam time.

Commenting on the use of social media Kavya said that as long as it’s not academic, she had suggested not to get involved in social media. I am not on Facebook and Instagram, I have just used WhatsApp for academic purposes. Social media avoidance is the only strategy that works with your preparation.

Now she is fully focused to successfully clear the IIT JEE Advanced exam which is a gateway for admission to various IITs all over India. She specifically aims to get a seat in the Computer Science Engineering course at either IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi.

Kavya’s past academic achievements

Kavya has been a brilliant and sincere student, some of her past achievements are as follows:

  1. In the CBSE class 10th exams, she had scored a whopping 97.6%
  2. She has actively participated in Maths and Science olympiads in the past. She also qualified for the Regional Maths Olympiad( RMP) in classes 9 and 11.
  3. Some other olympiads that she has cleared in the past are IOQP (Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Physics), IOQC (Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Chemistry), IOQM (Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics)

Kavya who is now an inspiration to many girls all over India also thanked her parents who have been her constant support and gave her equal opportunities as her brother. She says, “My parents always treated me and my brother equally. I was never discriminated against personally based on my gender but I am aware that not many girls in India are not as privileged. Even though I have never been discriminated against myself, I am aware of what other girls go through. I might not be able to understand the gravitas of my feat now but I am grateful."
