Team Rocket from JBIMS Mumbai walk away with the National winners title of PwC Campus Contenders
PwC Campus Contenders was open to 5 colleges across the country: IIM A, IIM C, ISB, JBIMS and XLRI. Everything was very well managed. All the timelines were followed and we received a great amount of exposure to the corporate and consulting world. Here is an account of our overall experience of this amazing competition.
Our team and its strategy
We approached the Campus Round of PwC Campus Contenders with an open mind, to learn and understand how consulting firms solve business problems. We got several inputs from the judges in the Campus Round, which we then implemented in the National Round. The major challenge we faced was in terms of presenting our solution in a concise manner while covering all the aspects.
Everyone was a tough competition but we were tougher
Overall, the experience was fun, to say the least. There were constant conflicts in the team which most of the time were resolved because we would get tired fighting. But as a good team, we focused on each other's strengths. Shaunak has a stellar vision and comes up with the craziest ideas, Anushka has a never-say-die attitude and helps channel those ideas and Vaishnavi is a finance wizard who implements them. According to us, every team was a tough competition but the team from ISB was a standout in terms of their overall approach and manner of presentation. However, our combined efforts surpassed all the challenges successfully!
The panelists and our learnings
The panel consisted of Partners in the firm who kept the round very interactive by probing and asking questions constantly. This helped us to understand and solve the case in a better manner. The insights gained through the interaction were valuable, not just for the competition but for our career as well.
The major learning that we gained from this competition was how to present an idea or a solution to the audience, which can be a client, manager or even a colleague.
After all our fruitful efforts and the final results when our name was announced as the National Winners, we were so excited and wanted to yell and celebrate right then and there. But we tried to control ourselves due to the presence of senior employees of the organisation. That's when one of the Partners came to us and said, "Don't worry. You may celebrate!". And we did! We would say that this moment will always remain close to our hearts!
