KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) 2017-18
KPMG is a professional service company and one of the Big Four auditors in the world which makes it all the more necessary for it to stay ahead in the race when all other brands are looking and hiring talents to uplift their brand image and achieve great heights.
KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) 2017-18 was one such initiative by the organisation to fulfil the aforementioned cause. This prestigious competition was open only for the invited second and third year students in non-engineering graduate colleges, to third and fourth year students of engineering institutes and to the first year students of the two years full-time PGDM (or its equivalent) program in business schools.
For KICC, students were required to register as a team of 4 members (comprising at least 1 male or 1 female member).
Campus championship
In the first round (Elimination round) of the competition, all registered teams worked on a case and presented their findings to a selection panel created by the Institute. KPMG provided them with necessary material for identifying the top team which represented the campus in the next round.
Zonal Prelim Championship
Top teams participating from both engineering and non-engineering institutes in each zone competed over a case study which was evaluated by a judging panel of KPMG professionals. The winning teams got an opportunity to participate in the regional championship. View the details of the competition here.
Regional championship
The top teams of participating B-schools competed with the winners from the zonal prelims by working on a challenging case study and were evaluated by a judging panel of KPMG professionals. The winning teams proceeded to the KICC National Finals.
National championship
Qualified teams from the regional round competed against each other in this round. The winning team grabbed the opportunity to represent India in the International Finale and was mentored by KPMG.
The team from SPJIMR (Mumbai) comprising Isha Shroff, Abhratanu Dutta, Aninda Basu, Shraddha Vadhaiya aced the National Championship followed by the team from IIM, Kozhikode as the runner-up.
High potential students identified during zonal, regional and national rounds were evaluated for pre-placement opportunities with the firm.
The winners were awarded INR 100,000 and the runner-up received INR 50,000.
International championship
This was the grand finale round in which national championship winners participated in a 4-day case study competition. Through a series of testing business scenarios and feedback sessions, KPMG experts from across the world selected the winning team. The finale was held between 10-14th April 2017 in Kuala Lumpur and out of three shortlisted finalist teams- Switzerland, Germany and Vietnam, The team from Germany was declared as the winner in the 15th KPMG International Case Competition.
As per the responses received on Unstop (formerly Dare2Compete)Awards, KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) 2017-18 was favoured by students of the B-schools as one of the top 20 the Most Prestigious B-School Competitions of the Year 2018.
