My deloit-ful summer internship experience at Deloitte Consulting USI -By Silky Chandra from SIIB Pune

My internship journey at Deloitte was a cheerful and enriching experience. I could utilize the best of my abilities to devise functional methodologies in order to implement AI and Chatbots in the business design. Here is an anecdote of my journey, which will for sure give you clear insights into what it is like to do an internship at Deloitte Consulting USI.

My journey of enhancing the overall exponential growth curve started when my CV got shortlisted for an internship at Deloitte. I was one of the three potential candidates to be chosen from. It was a thrilling moment, indeed! The interview was conducted in the college premises. There was only one round of Personal Interviews after the shortlisting of CV and after cracking the interview I successfully bagged the opportunity to intern at Deloitte.

My role was of a Strategy & Analytics Consultant where I was exposed to a plethora of decision-making use cases which included learning opportunities in business strategy development, business pitch, and market research-based analysis.

A fulfilling journey of exploring and expanding boundaries

Remarkably it had been a wonderful learning experience of 8 weeks where I upgraded my skills in various implementations of Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation in the life science and health care industry while working in the Analytics & Cognitive domain. I had to come up with business opportunities for the company and create protocols through various algorithmic use-cases and design a business proposal including the business pitch. It was all related to the new-age market analytics and focused on improving the client experience in a B2B macro-environment where I got the opportunity to showcase my intellect and expertise in areas like market research and analysis. 

In a virtual environment, it was difficult to network with my colleagues and mentors but I made sure to make up for every bit of it. I went ahead and conducted expert interviews to gain business insights about the industry and how it functions. My dedication and perseverance towards my work and ethics made me more confident and provided me end-to-end knowhow of the business problem and taught me how to handle and solve it with cognition. The Internship experience has upgraded my skill set and knowledge base to a different level and now I have a completely new and fresh viewpoint for the emerging business opportunities in the industry! 

It's very well said that hard work pays off and never goes in vain. I feel so humbled to mention that, as a result of my summer internship programme at Deloitte, I was fortunate enough to receive a PPO from Deloitte Consulting, that too in unprecedented times like COVID, for the role of a Functional Consultant in the Market Strategy & Analytics domain.

Expressing my hearty gratitude to my leadership, Kalyani Dacha Gupta and Meenal Jaiswal, my mentor, Romit Jumani, my buddy, Vasundhara Sharma, the talent team, especially Arnab Ghosh, and the organization for all the support, guidance, and mentorship during a challenging virtual internship scenario. Special thanks to Debi Kar for providing me valuable insights for my research! I acknowledge the support of our Director, Dr. Asmita Chitnis, Placement Cell Officer, Anuja Zanzad, and Corporate Relations, SIIB Pune who motivated me and guided me to achieve this milestone in my career. I would like to thank my family for mental support, and last but not least, my virtual workspace, for always being there for me!

Before I end this, I would like to drop a message for all the young guns - "Follow your dreams, they know the way". For me, this could be possible because I decided to choose and confidently follow the direction of my dreams, as I wanted to live the life I had imagined always.
