My HR internship at T. V. Rao Learning Systems Pvt Ltd -By Aditi Agrawal from Welingkar Institute of Management Bengaluru

I started my internship journey with T. V. Rao Learning Systems Pvt Ltd, a Talent Management & Organization Development Consulting firm a month back on May 5, 2020. The Chairman of the organization, Prof. TV Rao is referred to as one of the ‘Father of HRD in India’ and their CEO is Ms. Nandini Chawla. It is a privilege to intern at the esteemed organization whose logo ‘The lamp of knowledge’ symbolises what they believe in: dispel darkness by radiating light through knowledge and experience sharing. Well, let me take you through my journey of the last 1 month, interning under a senior consultant at TVRLS.

Selection Process

I was selected for the internship after a round of resume screening and an interview. The interview covered diverse aspects. The questions were not just the routine HR ones but also had an interesting element that made me ponder over my own experiences. To quote one, "What learnings have you practically applied to situations which have helped people around you?" One more thing which I really appreciate was that the interviewer mentioned the projects offered and asked me about my preferences with a reason for the
same. Later, I was lucky enough to be given the same project, to work on.

Don’t just wait for your career to unfold—make it happen by applying for the latest HR internships.

Sneak peek into the company's profile and culture

'We are all born talented' and this talent needs to be continuously recognised, nurtured and developed is what the company, TV Rao Learning Systems (TVRLS for short) believes in. The main focus is to facilitate talent discovery and its development at an individual and organisational level. For the past 24 years, TVRLS has been supporting various organizations in their journey of business excellence through culture, competency and capability building.

The Induction process was an enlightening experience where, one of the Senior Consultants, got us (the other 2 interns also) through the virtual journey in a very smooth way. He was extremely open and friendly, at the same time highly professional in his approach. It was a two-way communication rather than being a one-sided tedious way of learning. Once, I was assigned the mentors for my project, I had a session, wherein my mentors explained in detail, covering the actual scenarios about the project, which brought me a lot of clarity and curiosity to learn.

So what my project is all about?

Currently, I am working as a Human Resources (HR) intern for the organization on the project titled: A study of Virtual Assessment Centres for Development & Selection. This project will enable disruptive innovation at such times. Going virtual is a challenge but the good thing is that a challenge brings in the possibility for an individual to wake up from slumber and do the needful.

A great place to learn

This opportunity has come as a boon to me because it is not just helping me grow professionally but also personally. Let me elucidate this further:

Professionally, it is helping me improve my communication and presentation skills. Also, I am gaining a lot of domain knowledge. The insights shared by my mentors who have extensive knowledge in the field has also facilitated me with space for a lot of learning and growth.

Personally, I have become more responsible and have learned the art of prioritising work and tasks to a great extent, which has helped me maintain a work-life balance.

Looking forward to more learning and growth in the remaining part of the internship.
