The undisputed fight between all the leading institutes and universities is finally put to an end with the release of NIRF 2020 engineering rankings today. These rankings are based on precisely formulated parameters including Teaching, Learning & Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcome, Outreach & Inclusivity and Perception. Each parameter carries 100 marks. Each parameter is also assigned a different weightage. Teaching, Learning & Resources, and Research and Professional Practice hold a weightage of 0.30 each followed by 0.20 for Graduation Outcome and 0.10 each for Outreach & Inclusivity and Perception.
Along with NIRF 2020 engineering rankings, we have listed the rankings for 2019 as well so that the students who are planning to opt for engineering can get a fair insight into the college's performance.
Every year since 2016, IIT Madras has managed to top the tally of NIRF 2020 engineering rankings with distinction. However, for the second position, there has been a close tussle between IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. But just like 2019, this year also, IIT Delhi has bagged the second position leaving behind IIT Bombay at third position and IIT Kanpur and Kharagpur at 4th and 5th respectively.
In this cut-throat competition of 5500+ colleges, the top 10 colleges have pretty much followed the trends of 2019 rankings. Nevertheless, colleges like NIT Karnataka and Warangal have taken a giant leap forward, which cannot be ignored! extraordinary which ones made it to the top. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and IIT Indore have also jumped 3 ranked each and are now ranked as 12th and 10th respectively in the tally of Top 100 engineering colleges.
