NITIE Mumbai releases Merit List for the academic year 2020
Amidst the chaos caused due to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus, NITIE Mumbai decided to release its merit list for the academic year 2020 online. An autonomous institute that lies under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai, had conducted a personal interview, basis which the merit list has been created.
Owing to the current scenario of the country, the college had tweaked its admission process. Where two rounds, one each of group discussion and personal interview were conducted earlier, this year the institute decided to scrap off the GD round. Therefore, the merit list announced this year is solely on the basis of personal interviews conducted. The last date for submitting the online application was 11th February and the interviews were conducted in the last week of March.
What’s new this year?
There are a few other changes that have been incorporated in the admission process of NITIE Mumbai this year, keeping the previous year admissions in mind.
- A new category of EWS candidates has been added by the institute for the batch of 2020-22.
- For the academic year 2020, the overall fee structure has been revised for the candidates enrolling in PGDIM/ PGDISEM courses. A comparative analysis of the new fee structure with that of the old is mentioned below:

NITIE Mumbai Admission Process 2020
To get admission at NITIE Mumbai, candidates are required to have a valid CAT 2019 score and fill an application form, available on the institute’s website. The shortlisted candidates are then selected for further rounds of GD and PI, post which the final merit list is declared. This year, the rounds of GD and PI were to be held from March 27 to March 31.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the institute decided to eliminate the GD round and went ahead with conducting personal interviews only, basis which the final merit list has been announced.
Sponsored Seats
NITIE Mumbai offers a special category of sponsored seats for its PGDISEM programme. To avail these, candidates are required to fill the sponsorship form that is available on the institute’s website. The eligibility criteria under this category essentially requires candidates to have a minimum work experience of 2 years along with an aggregate score of 60% in Engineering/Technology. Candidates who apply under this category do not need to possess a valid CAT score but they have to sit for the further rounds of GD and PI.
NITIE Mumbai Merit List 2020
The final merit list of candidates is created on the basis of the following criteria:
- Academic Records
- CAT score
- Performance in GD/ PI
For the academic year 2020, the total number of seats available are 304 for PGDIM programme and 47 for PGDISEM programme. Amongst these, a total of 15% of approved seats (under supernumerary quota), in each programme, will be reserved for international students.
Reservation Policy of NITIE Mumbai 2020
NITIE Mumbai has the following reservation policy for the different categories -
SC/ ST/ OBS (NCL)/ PwD candidates - Seats are allotted to the reserved categories as per the rules of the Government of India. Candidates who apply in these categories are required to produce their original documents at the time of selection rounds.
Sponsored Category - For sponsored candidates, 15 seats of the PGDISEM programme are available.
NITIE Mumbai Fee Structure 2020
The fee structure for the academic year of 2020 for programmes of PGDISEM and PGDIM has been released by the authorities, which is common for both the courses with not many changes.

Please Note: SC/ST candidates who have an annual family income of less than Rs. 4.5 Lakhs will be exempted from the payment of academic charges. But they will have to pay all other deposits and charges. Also, the first year fee of Rs. 7,63,000 will have to be submitted in full at the time of admission.
For Sponsored Candidates:
Candidates who take admission under the sponsored category will have to pay the entire programme fees of 24 months at the time of admission.
Mandatory Mediclaim:
In addition to all other charges, NITIE Mumbai has made Mediclaim policy mandatory for all its students enrolling in various programmes. Students will have to submit an annual premium charge of Rs. 1,00,000 for policy coverage along with the above-mentioned fee structure.
