To elevate its level up to par with the IIMs, The National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) has already begun some major changes. The 20 IIMs make up a premier league of B-Schools in the country whose infrastructure and facilities are unmatched by any other.
Keeping the IIMs in mind, new projects are set in motion within the NITIE Mumbai campus and take it to the next level. The institute currently sprawls across 63 acres of land, that is a forested hilltop near the Lake Powai, Mumbai.
The ongoing infrastructural changes include upgrading all buildings, lighting, boundary walls, roads and common areas. Along with this, cafeterias, six hostels, fourteen residential buildings, and five office buildings are also in line to be renovated internally and externally.

Other revamping ideas include plans for new hostels, beautification of the campus, and renovation of classrooms and lecture halls, all of which come under the funding provided by the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA).
“The infrastructural development plan is expected to cost around Rs 160 crore. Out of which Rs 95.5 crore is already approved under the HEFA,” shared Professor Manoj Tiwari, Director, NITIE
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Education formed an expert committee to attempt to incorporate the NITIE under the Indian Institute of Management Act 2017. Professor Tiwari also expressed hopes of the institute being brought under the scope of the IIM Act 2017.
The institute currently holds favourable rankings among its fellow institutes and was ranked 12th in the Management Category of NIRF Rankings 2021.
