One Skill Retake- Second Shot At Clearing IELTS!

IELTS— International English Language Testing System— is the world’s leading English-language test for people seeking to work, study, or migrate to the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and all the other countries where English is the native language. And It is not every day that one receives a second chance to clear IELTS in one go and expedite their transition. One Skill Retake initiative brings students one step closer to achieving their dreams.

What is the One Skill Retake initiative?

Cracking IELTS is no mean feat. It requires hard work and dedication for a candidate to get the desired scores. Each candidate must excel in all four domains: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

Currently, if a candidate performs poorly in one module, they have to re-appear for the entire test, despite doing exceptionally well in the other three modules. This could be financially taxing for the candidates and can delay their transition process.

A better alternative to this is One Skill Retake. Students who did not get their intended score on the first try will have the option to retake the IELTS for one component starting in March 2023. The One Skill Retake pilot project was launched in Australia in November; however, it is yet unknown how much it will cost to retake the modules or how many times a student might choose to do so.

Take a breather!

The idea of One Skill Retake is to encourage the candidates and take some stress of resitting for the entire test off their shoulders.

Harkishan Singh, former head of Business Development at the British Council, reasoned that "if a student scores a 5.5 in Writing, it shows that they can score somewhere between 5 and 6 in Reading and Understanding. It is highly unlikely that they will score a '9' in one random module. So, let’s say a student scored a 7 or 7.5 in three modules and scored a 6 in the fourth module, this feature will be rewarding for this student since they can retake the fourth module alone and score better."

Right move at the right time

As several foreign nations, including Canada and the UK, are opening their economies to welcome more Indian students and professionals, Indian candidates can cash in on this opportunity.

There is a huge demand for international education and employment because India has the largest proportion of the world's "young population."

Fewer Chinese citizens have been relocating abroad over the past few years, which has raised pressure on international institutions to select more Indian applicants.
