The United Kingdom and India have struck an agreement that recognizes the higher education qualifications of each country. This will allow more Indian students to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. The Indian government, according to a statement, is making a number of efforts to encourage the internationalization of education, which is one of the primary areas of concentration under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020).

As per the official press release, all A-levels and their equivalents, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, will now be recognized in India thanks to the MoU signed by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year (a part of the UK-India Enhanced Trade Partnership - ETP).

The memorandum states that when Indian students who have completed their undergraduate degrees in British universities return home, they will be able to pursue postgraduate degrees or enter government professions that necessitate university degrees.

Statistics reflect that more than 84,000 Indian students went to the UK in 2020-21 as part of the Turing Scheme International Education program. Likewise, India has been a favorite study destination for many British students who want to study abroad.

UK grants 75 fully-funded scholarships to Indian students

Another news that drew interest from Indian students is the announcement of 75 fully-funded UK scholarships from September onwards.

There are Chevening scholarships available for a one-year Master's program among the different options. There will be around 18 scholarships for women in STEM subjects offered by the British Council in India in addition to the Chevening program.

In addition, HSBC India is set to sponsor 15 scholarships as part of the 75 scholarship opportunities, followed by two scholarships by Pearson India, and one scholarship each by Hindustan Unilever, Duolingo, and Tata Sons!
