The Teach For India Fellowship is a highly coveted program, with a selectivity rate between 6-8.5%. The finest part of the Teach For India Fellowship is that no prior teaching experience is required to apply. All Fellows receive intensive training to ensure their success in the classroom. Teach For India Fellowship aims for diversity in its cohort. The program represents more than 300 colleges and companies, with a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds.
The fellows are placed as full-time teachers at government or low-income private schools for two years. They teach English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies in grades 1 through 10. Currently, the fellows teach on-ground in various locations including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.
Teach For India Program: Eligibility criteria
In order to be considered for Teach For India Fellowship 2023, the following eligibility criteria must be met:
- Candidates must display interpersonal skills and intellectual excellence in their dealings with different stakeholders.
- Must possess skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, creating and achieving ambitious goals, and a high bar of expectations for oneself and others.
- Students, professionals, and entrepreneurs can all participate in the program.
- Teach For India Fellowship 2023 is open only to citizens of India or to the overseas citizen of India, who have graduated with a minimum of a bachelor's degree by June/July 2023. Provided, this must be your first time applying.
Teach For India fellowship selection process
Candidates for the Fellowship will be selected through a three-stage process:
Stage 1: Application form submission and a 25-minute online test
Stage 2: Phone interview
Stage 3: Invitation to assessment center/personal interview
Note:
- The information you provide on your application form will be used to determine whether or not you are a good fit for the fellowship.
- Your application will be considered complete only after submitting a 25-minute online test over the course of 72 hours.
- The telephonic interview will be for 30 minutes and will be aimed to gather further information.
- As part of your time at the Assessment Center, you may be expected to take part in numerous activities and sit for an hour-long interview.
Important dates and deadlines

- An applicant has to go through multiple rounds of the selection process.
- An applicant can apply only once for any cohort.
- The application deadline is 11:59 PM IST on the mentioned deadline dates for each Round.
