Applications are invited for an internship program at Nandankanan that will help you have a hands-on experience in zoo management and other related fields. Read further for details.
Nandankanan Internship Program: Eligibility and other details
Students pursuing graduation or post-graduation from any recognized institute or university in India are eligible to apply for the program. Students who have completed their graduation or are based abroad can also apply.
With this internship, students can conduct research and project work in the behavioral study of zoo animals, economic valuation of ecosystem services, assessment of flora and fauna of Nandankanan, and more.
Note: This is an unpaid internship. Certification will be issued to the interns after satisfactory completion of the internship. No accommodation shall be provided by Nandankanan, however, other required logistic support can be provided based on availability.
How to apply for the Internship Program at Nandankanan?
Candidates can apply by filling out the application form and sending it with a valid photo id proof to the following address: Deputy Director, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Barang-754005, Odisha. If the internship is a part of an ongoing academic course, it is mandatory that the application form is accompanied by a recommendation letter from the University/College.
Selection process for Nandankanan Internship Program
- The applications will be scrutinized on the basis of merit.
- The shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling and document verification.
- The selected candidates shall be informed within 30 days from the date of receipt of the application.
When can you apply?
The internship positions are open throughout the year with the internship duration ranging from 30 days to 3 months. Candidates can apply for the following four seasons:
- Summer (April to June)
- Fall (July to September)
- Spring (October to December)
- Winter (January to March)

About Nandankanan Biological Park
Spread over 170 acres, Nandankanan Biological Park is a zoo and botanical garden in Odisha, India. The Biological Park is home to more than 1600 individual animals from 166 species. Meaning ‘the Garden of Heaven’, the Park was established in 1960 and opened to the public in 1979. Nandankanan is the first zoo in the world to breed White tigers and Melanistic tigers.
