- What Lies Beyond Placements?
Every year countless aspirants battle their way through CAT examinations to get into a good B-School in India. But what if someone does not get into a good college/ university? Or does not get a good placement at the end of their MBA? Is it the end of the world?
Definitely not. Here is the story of Manish Yadav, a Delhi-based MBA graduate who turned down the conventional approach in his quest for success.
Journey From MBA to Agripreneurship
Manish explored multiple career options after his MBA, but none fit right. He then came back to his childhood passion for farming. Having helped his father on their family farm as a kid, Yadav turned his childhood fascination into a successful mushroom farming business using the skills he acquired through his B-school journey.
He started Shri Shyam Mushroom farms with an initial investment of INR 4 lakhs, in a single room space during Covid-19. Today he is a successful agripreneur, and Shri Shyam Mushroom Farms has expanded far beyond its humble beginning. The farms are fetching Manish lakhs every year. Agripreneurship led him to a model that gives him both financial security and personal gratification.
What Lies Beyond Placements?
There are numerous instances where MBA grads leave stable corporate jobs to pursue their passion in completely unrelated fields, or to become entrepreneurs, etc. This doesn’t mean that their MBA degree goes to waste.
Building a solid educational foundation, helps students gain a set of skills and knowledge which is never futile. A B-School exposes one to a community, where they network, and learn. It equips them with all the skills they need to grow in life. All one has to do is figure out a way to use their degree and make the most of it.
