Resume Best Served Hot? MBA Grad Dresses As Zomato Delivery Boy To Deliver His Resume!
It is hard to get your resume noticed amongst hundreds of candidates. But as they say, old ways won’t open new doors, an MBA graduate from Jaipur took the most unconventional way to apply for a job. Posing as Zomato’s delivery boy, Aman Khandelwal delivered his resume in pastry boxes! Read more about his ‘out-of-the-box’ idea that triggered mixed reactions on Twitter.
A ‘sweet’ gesture!
Aman Khandelwal did Bachelor’s in Commerce from the University of Rajasthan after which he pursued his MBA from the Institute of Management Development and Research (IMDR), Pune. Seeking a management trainee position, Aman took inspiration from a similar experiment done in the US a few years ago.
Dressed up as a Zomato delivery boy, Aman neatly slid his resume into pastry boxes and delivered the same at the offices of three companies-Unacademy, Cred and Newton School. Along with his resume, he also added a whacky note in the pastry box that read- Most resumes end up in the trash. But mine in your belly!
In an interview with Deccan Herald, Aman said, “I handed over the package to security guards of these offices and told them to hand them over to their HR managers. I haven’t followed up on the same or met anyone.”
He shared his experience on Twitter, prodding people to react to this new way of sending a resume. While many people appreciated him for using his imagination, some didn't find his idea impressive.
Aman I don't know why are you looking for a job. You have the intelligence, innovative idea, daring, risk appetite all that of an entrepreneur. Mark my word you are an entrepreneur stuff in you. This comes from a seasoned businessman.

This is a exact template of a guy who delivered resume with donuts in US. Should have delivered biriyani :)

How it all started!
Back in 2016, Lukas Yla, a marketing professional looking for a job in San Francisco, made 40 deliveries of his resume tucked into donut boxes at marketing agencies and tech companies by posing as a food delivery guy. This fetched him over 10 job interviews. His idea was largely appreciated by recruiters.
Love creative approaches to job hunting! Pretended to be with @Postmates to deliver this delicious resume! 😍 #tech pic.twitter.com/aSTmtWF0CR

Aman’s experiment seems to be based on Lukas’s idea. While it may have clicked with some recruiters as he has received calls from 8 to 10 recruiters since his post went viral, it hasn’t gone down too well with Zomato. Referring to his ‘gig’ Zomato tweeted its displeasure over the impersonation.
Hey Aman, hope your 'gig' landed you something meaningful. The idea was great, execution - top of the line, impersonation - not so cool.

Getting a job is not a cakewalk
Aman Khandelwal’s impersonation may prompt Zomato to take legal action against him. Legally, Aman can be penalized under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and IPR laws. So what made Aman Khandelwal choose this way of sending his resume to companies?
More than 50% of the population of Bangalore consists of migrants who come to the city to look for jobs. This leads to intense competition amongst job seekers compelling them to explore ideas beyond job referrals or hiring managers' follow-ups to get their resumes noticed.
For now, Aman seems to be satisfied with his experiment. His whacky way of sending his resume has made him popular on social media and has increased his followers on Twitter and LinkedIn. When asked about his course of action in case Zomato takes legal action against him, Aman said that he would apologize to Zomato and consult a lawyer if need be.
