Our hero in disguise, the girl who saves the day -By Chitrangda Jain from SSCBS Delhi
The reason I wrote the title this way was to emphasize on the fact that it is not always a guy who is capable of saving the day. A girl, today, is equally capable. The same goes for our batch. For us, it is a girl who has always been on the forefront. This hero in disguise, in our college, is Mansi who apparently is also my best friend.
The Class Representative
A fashionista by heart, she is a true embodiment of elegance, honesty and responsibility. She loves writing long messages on Instagram and WhatsApp. She is someone who is not only a believer but a doer. The patience and tolerance she possesses is inspiring. You might think I’m exaggerating, but that is only until you spend some time with her. She has been the Class Representative for 2 consecutive semesters. I have never seen her get fed up or talk to anyone disrespectfully. In fact, her favourite answer to any question is a respectful ‘Yes’.
Due to her post, she gets numerous texts every day, from classmates, asking her to confirm the schedule of lectures the next day. She always replies to them calmly. She definitely doesn’t wear a cape but is someone who saves the day, always. Whenever there is a problem with the lecture schedule, she is the first one to be remembered. For instance, if a teacher is not to come the next day, she requests another teacher to swap or fill in; so that the students get home early. If we calculate, she has practically saved more than 2 full days worth of time, in college, till now. This is huge.
She has got your back!
You just need to mention it and she’ll be there to help you in every way possible. With her around, we needn’t worry about attendance. If we don’t want to attend a particular lecture, she’ll make sure that lecture doesn’t happen. She is the one to voice our opinion in case of tests and other assessments. Indeed, she’s got superb communication and negotiation skills!
We may think that all of this is not a big deal but only she can understand the difficulty of mediating between two parties. Her job doesn’t end here though. She even goes to the extent of solving problems of students individually. For instance, if someone has to share a secret, they can safely keep it with her.
There’s hardly anyone with as good connections as her in our course. Even students from outside our course reach out to her for help with books and everything. All in all, she is a hero in disguise who doesn’t need a cape or a superhero suit. It doesn’t matter how many people remember her or how they remember her. She will be successful in everything she does, irrespective of who is watching.
